Progressive Handling Inc. is a material handling systems integrator based in Allendale, Michigan. We design, engineer, and install storage systems, conveyor systems, and automation for industrial facilities across the country. We also conduct certified pallet rack inspections. We hold ourselves responsible for finding the best solutions to your storage and conveyor problems.
PHI was started in 1991 as a material handling equipment distributor serving Michigan and northern Indiana. The work was relatively simple in those early years: source the right equipment, get it to the customer, move on to the next job.
Over time, the scope grew. Customers weren’t just buying equipment; they were trying to solve problems. How do we store more without expanding the building? How do we move product faster without adding headcount? How do we keep our racking compliant and our workers safe? Those questions required more than a product catalog or a warehouse solutions company that stops at the sale. They required engineering, project management, and the kind of institutional knowledge that only comes from decades of doing this work.
PHI grew to meet that need.
In 2021, Daniel Boonstra became the second generation to lead the company, succeeding his parents, Larry and Joyce. The Boonstras built PHI from the ground up. Daniel is carrying that forward, with a few changes of his own: every customer now gets a dedicated project manager who stays with the project from the first conversation through final installation.
What hasn’t changed is how PHI approaches a project. Every engagement starts with a conversation. We ask questions before we recommend anything. We scope solutions around the facility as it operates, not as it exists on a diagram. And we stay involved through installation and beyond.
PHI exists to solve material handling problems the right way. That means listening before recommending, engineering solutions that fit the facility, and standing behind the work after installation. We’ve operated that way for over thirty years.
